Data Security

Every hard drive that comes in to our facility is subjected to a standard, one-pass overwrite of the data, or else processed for scrap metal.  This is done at no charge to the client.

We also offer a US DoD 5220.22-M (Department of Defense) wipe which overwrites the data anywhere from 3- to 7-times. We use the Paragon Wipe Wizard which verifies the passes and prints a report for each drive. This function takes anywhere from 5 to 8 hours to complete. After the service has been performed, a Certificate of Assurance will be issued to the client. This service has a fee of $20 per drive.

We can also ship the drives to one of our third party vendors for shredding. Once the service has been performed and we have been notified by our vendor, a Certificate of Assurance for destruction will be issued. This also carries a fee of $20 per drive.

Step Onedatasec_1

While at any of our scheduled Events or Pickups, you may request a Hard Drive Wipe form when you bring us your item(s). Our on-site personnel will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. Once you fill out the form, you will remit payment based on the number of devices being wiped.

Step Twodatasec_2

Your item(s) are added to our Drive Wipes queue, which often contains several weeks’ worth of items. When your item(s) are processed, our technicians verify and document each drive.

Step Threedatasec_3

Once we have processed all items for your particular list, our office staff will submit a Certificate of Assurance to your registered email address. You may request a physical copy at any time as well.
